Are You Taking Care of You? – Healing from Secondary Traumatic Stress

This session will assist clinicians with understanding the impact working with individuals with mental illness has on their minds, bodies, and spirit. Clinicians will examine the many ways in which they are exposed to trauma. Followed by information to help them gain an appreciation for self-care in addition to identifying ways to combat secondary traumatic stress. Participants will be able to: - Identify potentially traumatizing events they may encounter within mental health settings. - Describe vicarious trauma, secondary traumatic stress and organizational stress. - Identify the impact of stress on their bodies and minds. - Describe the importance of self-care.
